“This is potentially life-threatening for patients. We should not use Viagra to treat ED. Viagra has been linked to death, as well as serious heart complications. This is a problem for the FDA as it is our responsibility to provide a safe and effective treatment.”
Viagra is not currently approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is not expected to be approved for the treatment of impotence.
Fierman said the FDA may also recommend a lower dose of Viagra, which can help reduce side effects.
“When Viagra is taken by men with erectile dysfunction, there are potential risks associated with the drug. The FDA has issued a warning about Viagra and the possibility of its side effects,” Fierman said. “It is critical that patients continue to take the medication.”
The FDA is not required to provide additional information on the use of Viagra.
